OriginNative to Mexico.Appearance Agave sisalana is a shrub, up to 2 meters tall.Foliage Simple, up to 4.9' (1.5 m) long and 3.9" (10 cm) wide, somewhat fleshy, green to dark green, sword shape, margins generally smooth, but may have minute teeth.Flowers Large, leafless stalk up to 19.7' (6 m), yellowish-green flowers to 2.8" (7 cm).Fruit Black/oblong capsule to 2.4" (6 cm).Could be confused with:Native false-sisal (Agave decipiens) but false-sisal grows a trunk and has curved, prickly hooks on the leaf edges.
